The 2016 Grand Lighting Ceremony will take place on Tuesday, November 22. Pre-event music for the tree-lighting ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m.The 2016 Grand Lighting Ceremony begin at 7:00.
Immediately after the ceremony, kids of all ages can pose for pictures with Santa Claus in front of the South Dakota Christmas tree. Parents are reminded to bring their cameras. Refreshments, donated by Lynn’s Dakotamart in Pierre, will be served on the first floor of the Capitol.
The annual Holiday Open House of the South Dakota State Historical Society at the Cultural Heritage Center is Friday, November 25, from Noon to 4:30 p.m. Call (605) 773-6000 for more information or visit history.sd.gov.
Holiday hours for the Cultural Heritage Center from November 26 to December 23 are 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Sundays. The Cultural Heritage Center is closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Days.
On December 10th, celebrate the 19th Annual AG Pie Day with a free piece of pie, coffee and ice cream on the first floor of the Capitol Building. Volunteers will be serving pie, time and date to be announced.While you are at the Capitol, tour three floors of gorgeous trees on display. Event runs from 11am - 3pm.
