The Grand Lighting Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at 7:00 PM. Governor Noem and special guests will entertain those in attendance and kick off 2023 Christmas at the Capitol!

As always, a special guest from "up North" will make an appearance at the end of the evening. Children can write their "letters to Santa" at home then bring them to the 1st floor of the Capitol and place them in the "Letters to Santa" mailbox (no postage required), where they will be delivered to the North Pole before Christmas by special little helpers.

The Cultural Heritage Center is closed for renovation until 2025. Great South Dakota gifts are still available at the Heritage store on the first floor at the Capitol. Call 605.773.6000 or visit history.sd.gov for more information.
